American Pie traceroute
A predictable traceroute path uses PTR records on its routers to spell lines from “American Pie”, turning reverse DNS into a lyric display.
makerforce.io used traceroute host names to carry a version of American Pie. Each hop becomes a line in the route rather than a network device name.
It is a good reminder that reverse DNS is presentation data. A resolver can return a route that is technically normal and theatrically much more useful.
