Star Wars traceroute
A predictable static route sends probes through selected IP addresses whose PTR records spell a Star Wars story in ordinary traceroute output.
Traceroute normally exposes the routers on a path. This example made the route itself part of the performance, with hostnames that tell a familiar story.
It is a useful reminder that DNS names can be a user interface, not only infrastructure metadata.
